Summer Slaughter Tour Announced
A favorite of the metal crews out there, especially now that many of the summer tours have decimated their underground or more extreme acts. The Summer Slaughter tour still offers some wicked bad ass metal bands, and is compact enough to hit the medium market cities as well.
I am pretty excited about this year's line-up, Black Dahlia is one of my favorite bands, and it looks like we will get to vote for some of the opening acts too. Actual tour dates won't beannounced until 4/20/11!

Cannibal Corpse Infests Slayer
As if Slayer could get more metal, somehow they just did. The addition of Cannibal Corpses guitarist Pat O'brien to the line up as a fill in for Jeff Hanneman on the european leg of their tour. Those duties have been up to Exodus' Gary Holt, but now he must rejoin his band for some dates in South America, and has to be swapped out.
Hanneman has made a speedy recovery from an infection thought to have been caused by a spider bite. Following surgery on his right arm, he continues his physical therapy and has already been practicing with his guitar.

Shatner is a Honorary Headbanger
The Revolver Golden God awards, one of the only awards for heavy music out in the big world of entertainment, decided that it would be a great idea to hand out honorary awards. In theory it might be a good idea if chosen are legendary people who directly influence the culture of heavy metal.
An Honorary Headbanger award will be issued this year to none other than William Shatner. You probably read earlier in the year about Shatner working with Zakk Wylde, but just curious if that makes him an integral part of metal music culture.
"Short of receiving an Emmy for my superb voice, the Honorary Headbanger Award is the next best thing. Praise be you won't hear me sing," said William Shatner.
I love the guy, I think what he did with "Rocket Man" was incredible, and he is a hell of a lot of fun to watch, but not sure where this idea came from. Last I checked, I loved me some Star Trek, but it did not make me metal, then again getting your trekkie ass kicked enough times will turn you to Slayer, so maybe it did. LONG LIVE SHATNER!
