MetalSucks Podcast #44

Howard Jones, ex-Killswitch Engage and current Devil You Know vocalist, is our guest this week. We talk about his bout with depression, his reasons for leaving KSE, his new project and we generally try and psychoanalyze a way too humble man.

Chuck and Godless also talk about the cuttlefish in the room, the death of Dave Brockie; what his death means to them and what it might mean for the band — Godless already thinking about their future and Chuck is stuck in the past. They also let you hear the new supergroup Killer Be Killed and can’t help but like the song, and they discuss the reasons why bands try to make something new when they already have a good thing going (or if that is even the point of the exercise?).

Songs:
Devil You Know – “Seven Years Alone”
Killer Be Killed – “Wings of Feather and Wax”
GWAR – “Maggots”

Jesse Leach back with Killswitch Engage

In an expected twist of events, this image popped up at killswitchengage.com With out the formal press release, facebook announce, or twitter comment just yet, it may all be part of the speculation that has been raging since the announced departure of Howard Jones (but probably not).

Leach seems like the most likely choice since the rekindling of the Adam D. flames in Times of Grace, but also thinking about a third vocalist for KSE is almost mind numbing at this point. Probably the wise decision, and he still has got some chops.

Killswitch Engage Parts Ways With Howard Jones

In an online statement, Killswitch Engage have announced they are parting ways with yet another singer. Howard Jones is no longer a part of the band according to their latest post on Facebook:
"To our family, friends and fans: We have decided to continue on without Howard Jones as the singer of KILLSWITCH ENGAGE. We love Howard and are thankful for the nine years that we've had him in the band. Out of respect for everyone involved, we will not be discussing the specific reasons behind this decision. Howard is a part of our family and always will be, and we wish him well. He has left big shoes to fill, so we certainly have our work cut out for us to find the next singer of KILLSWITCH, something we plan on making priority #1 going forward. Most importantly, thanks to all of you for all the support throughout the years and for sticking by us for all this time. We really do appreciate it and we very much look forward to having a new record for all of you in the not too distant future that we can all be proud of."
Jones was sidelined during their 2010 headlining tour, which led many to speculate their decision to continue with Phil LaBonte filling in, but at that time it did not signal the end of Jonses tenure with the metalcore stalwart. It does however, beg the question about their recently announced show at the New England Metal and Hardcore Fest as well as the reported 'new' material they had been writing, whether the band will need to start from scratch.
