Jeff Hanneman Dead at Age 49

I don't really have the word to put together about the passing of Jeff Hanneman. Without a doubt, one of the greatest guitarists and songwriters in the history of metal who will leave a gaping hole in our community for years to come.
Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.
Our Brother Jeff Hanneman, May He Rest In Peace (1964 - 2013)
A quick post on the Slayer Facebook page but an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of their fans. When I started my show almost a decade ago, I had one thing in mind, Essential Slayer. There was and always has been one metal band who was able to bridge the extreme metal gap, integral to our art, our culture, our everything, and a huge piece of that is now gone. May he rest in metal with so many other greats who went before him, Dio, Mike Scaccia, Chuck Schuldiner, Dimebag...peace be with you Jeff Hanneman, we are metal for you, your legacy will always live on.

Chi Cheng Passes Away

No words can describe the sadness when I read this. The Deftones were so influential in my return to metal that I can on repost the words on Oneloveforchi.com
“Our dearest Family,
This is the hardest thing to write to you. Your love and heart and devotion to Chi was unconditional and amazing. I know that you will always remember him as a giant of a man on stage with a heart for every one of you. He was taken to the emergency room and at 3 am today his heart just suddenly stopped.
He left this world with me singing songs he liked in his ear.
He fought the good fight. You stood by him sending love daily. He knew that he was very loved and never alone. I will write more later. I will be going through the oneloveforchi and any other information may not be reliable.
If you have any stories or messages to share please send them to the one love site. Please hold Mae and Ming and the siblings and especially Chi’s son, Gabriel in your prayers. It is so hard to let go.
With great love and “Much Respect!” Mom J (and Chi)”
This song describes what I am screaming in my head...Rest in Peace, Chi

Randy Blythe Not Guilty in Manslaughter Case

According to Blesk.cz and Novinky.cz, Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe has been found not guilty of manslaughter by a three-judge panel in the Czech Republic.

Blythe was facing the possibility of conviction and a long-term jail sentence after a May 2010 incident in which a fan, Daniel Nosek, who attended a Lamb of God performance in Prague, died almost a month later, allegedly from injuries sustained when he was thrown off the stage.
“I have been found not guilty and acquitted of all charges against me," Randy wrote on his Instagram account. "I am a free man.

"Please remember the family of Daniel Nosek in your thoughts and prayers in this difficult time. I only wish for them peace. Thank you for your support."
Tuesday's ruling by Prague's Municipal Court was confirmed by the court spokeswoman, Marketa Puci. The state prosecutors have announced their intention to appeal the verdict; they have eight days to put this in writing. Blythe is not required to pay any compensation to the victim's family.

This may not be the end of the proceedings, but definitely a victory for Randy...

Randy Blythe Returns to Czech Court for Trial

Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe has returned to the Czech Republic to stand trial on charges of manslaughter in the death of a fan at a Prague concert more than two years ago.

Blythe is facing the possibility of conviction and a long-term jail sentence after a 2010 incident in which a fan, Daniel Nosek, attending a Lamb of God show died almost a month later, allegedly from injuries sustained when he was thrown off the stage.

Blythe explained to the court that fans are normally prohibited from jumping on stage, but the Prague show was different. People climbed up on stage and found themselves standing next to band members.

According to the Blythe, Lamb of God never encouraged anyone to get up on stage and has security guards and barriers around the stage to prevent fans from getting up on stage and possibly bumping into the musicians. The club Abaton where the Lamb of God concert on May 24, 2010 took place was had inadequate security, according to Blythe, and there was general chaos on stage during the performance.

The parents of Daniel Nosek are demanding compensation of 10 million Czech Koruna (approximately $530,000).

The trial portion is set to take place this week, and should last around 4 to 5 days, then it will be up to a panel of judges to decide his ultimate fate in this matter. More Updates as they become available.

Cerebral Bore Frontwoman Leaves Band

Vocalist Simone "Som" Pluijmers has quit Scottish death metal band Cerebral Bore and has been temporarily replaced by Shawn Whitaker.
Som walked out on us less than 24 hours before the U.S. tour, and we were forced to either cancel or go ahead with it as an instrumental, if need be. We didn't want to let our U.S. fans down, so we went ahead with our buddy Shawn Whitaker on vocals for the tour.Show us your support and make Shawn feel at home; he saved us from a disaster.
It seems to be catching on with bands, losing members right before a tour, or at least as things are going well with them. Glad they decided to get some vocals though, not sure i would go see a death metal instrumental show...

Randy Blythe Arrested in Czech Republic

According to the Czech news web site Novinky, vocalist Randy Blythe of Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD was arrested earlier today (Thursday, June 28) in the Czech Republic and charged with manslaughter over an incident that happened more than two years ago.

Blythe, 41, reportedly got into an altercation with a fan who had come on stage during the band's show at the Prague club Abaton in May 2010 and the fan later died of his injuries.

After the 2010 incident, those who know the band heard the intruder may have been struck with a microphone before the security team forced him from the stage, reports Richmond's TV station CBS-6.

When LAMB OF GOD arrived on Thursday to play a show at the Rock Café in Prague with SKELETONWITCH and ALL SHALL PERISH, the local police brought the musician in for questioning. LAMB OF GOD's appearance at the venue was canceled later in the day.

LAMB OF GOD's representatives have said that Blythe is wrongly accused and that they expect him to be fully exonerated.

Randy's brother, Mark Blythe, told CBS-6 that he's awaiting further details and said the charge is "bogus and outrageous and will be dropped immediately."

NO CONTROL Radio gets a 'Metal Enema'

In an effort to bring you the best metal programming in the effing world, or at the very least from our fortress deep in the bowels of Texas, NO CONTROL Radio is proud to help revive a classic metal show from some brilliant make that insane hosts. Check out the details below:

METALENEMA – Death, Black, Thrash!
Metalenema began in 1994 on KVRX FM Radio in Austin, Texas. Hosted by The Undertaker and Agapornis Epicac, it was the only radio show broadcast from The University of Texas to local, and later international, acclaim. The show was tied to numerous touring underground concerts and boasted hundreds of listeners at the height of its popularity. It resurfaced as a guest program on BCR in Bridgewater, England, in 1999, and was then revived once more for a series of popular podcasts on Solarfall.com from late 2005 to the end of 2007.

The focus of the show is Black and Death Metal spanning the '80s, '90s, and the new millennium, as well as some good old timeworn Speed and Thrash Metal for good measure. While the music is always serious, your intrepid hosts are rarely anything but irreverent, ridiculous, and occasionally patently offensive in their quest to promote the long-lost lighter side of an art form they hold so dear. Tune in and give your brain a Viking funeral every Saturday night on No Control Radio on 107.1 HD2!
Metal Enema begins it's reign of terror on the world Saturday Sept 3rd, and will continue till they get me fired. Be sure to check back here for playlist and more information and to hear their old shows hit Metalenema.com

ANAL C*NT Frontman Dead at 43

ANAL CUNT's publicist, Kim Kelly of Catharsis PR, has confirmed via Twitter that the band's frontman, Seth Putnam, died earlier today (Saturday, June 11) of a suspected heart attack. He was 43 years old.

Commented Kelly: "Yes, it's true. Seth Putnam, one of the most infamous musicians that extreme metal has ever seen, the grindcore GG Allin, has passed away due to a heart attack.

"I handled all the promotion for ANAL C-NT's last album, 'F-ckin' A', and Seth was always happy to oblige any request I sent his way. The band had been working on a new album before his passing, so chances are his musical career's epitaph has yet to be inscribed.

"I want to remind everyone that no matter how outrageous and controversial his musical career has been, Seth was still a human being with friends and family that loved him. I'm hoping that the Internet will remember that. This is a very sad and trying time for those that knew him, and the last thing they need to see is an outpouring of message board hate. The man lived and died by his own rules; if anything, respect him for that."
