Chi Cheng Passes Away

No words can describe the sadness when I read this. The Deftones were so influential in my return to metal that I can on repost the words on Oneloveforchi.com 

“Our dearest Family, 

This is the hardest thing to write to you. Your love and heart and devotion to Chi was unconditional and amazing. I know that you will always remember him as a giant of a man on stage with a heart for every one of you. He was taken to the emergency room and at 3 am today his heart just suddenly stopped. 

He left this world with me singing songs he liked in his ear.
He fought the good fight.You stood by him sending love daily. He knew that he was very loved and never alone. I will write more later. I will be going through the oneloveforchi and any other information may not be reliable. 

If you have any stories or messages to share please send them to the one love site. Please hold Mae and Ming and the siblings and especially Chi’s son, Gabriel in your prayers. It is so hard to let go.

Ozzfest Japan Announce Line-up

So if the thought of travelling to Japan to see a concert was even a possibility for you, this might be one worth thinking about, but overall not the most interesting line-up for an Ozzfest show. All the more reason the touring version of the fest became a little tedious in it's last incarnation. The same bands, playing the same set they played in years past. The addition of Tool got my attention though, I am always down to see them, even in Japan.

I still believe this festival need to become a weekend event here in the great state of Texas, like a ACL Fest, Lolla or otherwise. It only make sense, but then again what do I know.

Closing in on the holiday doldrums, when albums don't get released for a month or so in the dead of Winter, which seems counter intuitive for metal, but what do I know. It will be a chance to catch up on this years releases, and such, but really a good time to listen to holiday metal and stuff...before black friday reminds us of how consumer based our society has deteriorated, a few new releases for you. Deftones new one really shines, and I was skeptical at best, and Aeon is blasphemous and excellent too, enjoy these on the HD2 channel or the live stream too, to hear them in the mix.

After a long weekend of drinking and celebrating the anniversary of my Mom's bar turning 20, that's right my Momma owns a bar, I am still a little groggy. RECORD STORE DAY: Sat the 16th

If you are anything like me, i am a total merch whore. I typically reserve any extra cash for shows so I can buy shirts and vinyl, and hopefully provide a tank of gas for the band to get to the next gig. Record Store Day is another day that you should go out of your way to buy your favorite bands music on a real format, not digital, visceral, tactile, in you stupid hands forever kinda thing.

This celebration of the small record shops, or more aptly called record boutiques, if we want rich hipsters to partake, has bands creating some of their best merchandise of the entire year to inspire fans to lay down cash and keep the small box stores in business.

Whether you want the new Gaga 7in, or like me sticking to metal there are a ton of offerings. on the metal front, look for BTBAM's new album The Parallax (or at least 3 songs from it) on colored vinyl, a new DIO picture disc, Deftones Covers album, Neurosis S/T on 12" and I will be hunting down the Queen vinyl, don't judge me!
