NO CONTROL Radio Report 3/4/19

SXSW begins today (at least Interactive), and I am about to publish my list of metal shows happening. Wow…kinda crazy how far we have fallen off the list. I know High on Fire might not be slated to play the Doritos Locos Stage or Mastodon on the Capitol One/GoDaddy Showcase, but I figured for at least a few more official showcases. It reminds me about the turn of the century, post Nu Metal, no one was doing SX, it started with bringing back the local metal. Then you saw some touring acts, then a few parties, then Mastodon at Auditorium Shores…so I am not worried…

I got a viscous sunburn this weekend, it was hot a humid, and I wake up today and BAM! Fall is in Texas! I love it, rainy, cold and dark, just how it should be year round. I know I may be in the minority, but I always thought it odd to have metal in the sunlight honestly. This is the way it should be, it makes things angry and dark! Twelve years ago this week NO CONTROL Radio debuted on the air on 101X, and we have not stopped since. I pride myself on being inthe studio almost every single week to take your calls, answer your messages, read your texts and try to bring you the best metal that I can each week. So many of you have been along for the ride all these years, some grown up before my eyes, and other become great friends over the years. It feels like the quiet before the storm, literally since there are storms hitting this weekend, but figuratively with SXSW on the horizon just a few weeks away. I will be compiling the metal artists for you and giving some decent previews of what to look out for during the conference this year as I always do. The Metal is a little lacking so far, but you never know what will happen, i mean Metallgaga just did the Grammys, so who knows!

I have returned from the edge of the Earth to keep the metal train rolling.
