Mastodon Contribute Song to Monsters Inc.

So all I have to go on is their status update from Facebook, but the idea that Mastodon is working with Disney seems legit. It appears that they are adding a new song to the sequel to Pixar's Monsters Inc franchise due out in the summer of 2013.

Mastodon Shows Off New Album Art

The cover artwork for "The Hunter", the new album from Atlanta progressive metallers MASTODON, and it is completely insane looking. Created by AJ Fosik, a wood carver who also created the bands live backdrop. This is first time MASTODON has not used artist Paul Romano, who was responsible for all of the group's previous album art.

At first glance, I was a little put off by Fostik's artwork, but as I checked out all of his works and more detail, I can see why Mastodon chose this amazing artist for this album. Check out the link to his site above!

Tentatively due in October via Reprise Records, "The Hunter" will contain the following tracks, among others:

You Mastodon fans are patiently waiting for the new album the Hunter to finally be finished and some new music to grace your ears. If you, like myself, are also a fan of Adult Swim, you may have noticed their Singles Program for 2011 has some pretty sweet tunes, but most notably for metal fans a song extracted from the Crack the Skye sessions that has never been released. Mastodon Announce New Album Title, People Go Apeshit

I am a complete d-bag fan of Mastodon, but I have read so many blogs and articles about the new name of Mastodon's next opus as if it were the second coming of Dio. I know why people are enamored with Mastodon, they are good, they are funny, creative and have a highly anticipated album due out this year, but get a room. In a world full of critics, bloggers and opinions I refuse to speculate whether or not the new album will be more like Remission or Crack the Skye, I just don't care yet. That's an easy way to raise your expectations too high.

The Hunter, as the new album will be known, will be a good album from a good band. Will it change my world like Leviathan, I am not sure, but I am not pinning all of my hopes and dreams on it, nor would I hate Mastodon even if it is nothing but farts and whistles.

BTW, I googled The Hunter and this came up, i see the album cover now:
