If you don't know by now, I am a pinball maniac. I have been in love with the game for years, I have it on my Ipad, Iphone, downloaded games, and am a Gold Member at Austin's own Pinballz Arcade. As I was playing one of their latest additions to the line up AC/DC all I could think is about the gap in METAL Pinball machines, I mean GnR kinda sucks, and KISS is kinda cool, but the Slayer Pinball on the Ipad is a little boring too. Now Stern has a Metallica game in the works!
The fifth annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards will take place Thursday, May 2, at Club Nokia in Downtown LA. Fozzy frontman and WWE pro-wrestling personality Chris Jericho will host for the fourth consecutive year. The nominees in 11 different fan-voted categories, plus the recipients of this year's prestigious Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award, Golden God Award and Riff Lord were revealed at a press conference at the Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood in Los Angeles.
The Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award, will go to hard-rock and metal icons Metallica as well as the headlining slot on the show that will be broadcast live on AXS TV and XBox Live. Metallica's Lars Ulrich commented:
"Since the Revolver Golden Gods Awards is fast becoming THE most rocking awards ceremony in the hard rock world, we are beyond psyched to be at the receiving end of this shout out and in the distinguished company of RUSH, Lemmy, Ozzy and MÖTLEY CRÜE. I was hanging out and presenting at the shenanigans two years ago and the energy in the room and the vibe backstage was beyond f-cking cool, so Metallica is chomping at the bit to partake in this year's event. Once again, we are honored to be recognized as achievers (!!) and we can't wait to get up and jam onstage and sweat for and on everybody gathered."

Just announced, Metallica's Orion Music and More festival headed to Detroit this year June 8th and 9th. No real news on bands just yet, but of course you can follow all the regular stuff to keep up to date on the latest details or share your ideas for bands, I am sure they will take your opinion to heart. More details due out in February.
In 2009 Morgan Harrington was separated from her group of friends and went missing following a Metallica show in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her body was recovered four months later in a field near the venue. She was last seen hitchhiking on a bridge October 17th 2009.
At the time Metallica offered $50,000 reward to help find her attacker, that reward has grown to $150,000 and as James Hetfield states in this youtube video "any information, no matter how small you think it is, could be that
crucial piece investigators need to help solve the case."
The FBI says DNA evidence links her case to an assault in Fairfax, Virginia four years earlier, and the bureau released an enhanced sketch of the a possible suspect in her killing. The suspect is described as an African-American male with black hair and
facial hair at the time of the 2005 attack. He is about 6 feet tall and was
believed to be between 25 and 35 years old at the time of the attack, making him
32 to 42 now.

Metallica
lead guitarist Kirk Hammett candidly admitted in a new interview with Rolling
Stone that the band has to tour pretty continuously in order to pay for its
huge overhead, which includes their own studio, salaries for their staff and
crew, and their live show production.
"The cycles of taking two years off don't
exist anymore. We were able to do that because we had record royalties coming
in consistently. Now you put out an album, and you have a windfall maybe once
or twice but not the way it used to be — a check every three months."
It has to be a pretty tough life for a band like Metallica, I honestly can't imagine how they can survive, they may have to get day jobs. Here is a NSFW 18+ oldie, but goodie reminding us how important you money really is...
Metallica have announced today at orionmusicandmore.com the birth of their own music festival, Orion Music and More (as you may have seen in the promo video above). Hand picking 22 artists for two dates, June 23rd and 24th in Atlantic City, NJ.
Apparently they are trying to incorporate several different lifestyle events and musical genres into one fest. So far the line-up is decidedly not metal, at all. The Sword, Avenged Sevenfold and Liturgy are probably the closest, but with Arctic Monkeys, Modest Mouse, The Black Angels, Roky Erikson, and Gary Clark Jr. will make for a more eclectic scene akin to Bonnaroo.
2-day passes are running $125, and front of stage will cost an extra $100, only if you are a Metclub member, and $150 for the rest of the schmucks out there. I have my opinions, but will hold and see how this shakes out in the next few days...
A representative for promoter DNA Networks has told Pollstar that the cancelation of METALLICA's performance at the Indian Formula 1 motor racing Grand Prix show on October 28 in Gurgaon (a suburb of Delhi) was caused by an "unruly" section of the crowd climbing over safety barriers and damaging the stage set.
Karuna Prithvi from the DNA's press department told Pollstar it's difficult to explain what sparked the fuss because "it was all so quick." Prithvi says the company always has barriers in place for its shows and the problem was caused when fans broke through them. She said unruly fans "vandalized and destroyed" a lot of stage equipment, which meant it was impossible to fix it and get permission for a new show within 24 hours.
Other media reports, however, claimed fans became unruly when the gates opened several hours later than the scheduled opening times. Still other media reports said fans became angry after DNA sold more tickets than the venue's estimated 30,000 capacity and because the organizers failed to inform ticket holders of the cancelation.
METALLICA issued a statement on its web site, explaining it was "deeply disappointed" about the gig's cancellation. The band added, "We arrived in Delhi on Friday very excited and ready to play our first show ever in India at the F1 Rocks concert. However, immediately at the end of our afternoon press conference at a hotel near the venue, we were notified that there was a serious question as to whether the show could proceed with regard to the safety of the concert audience. And our first and foremost concern is always for the safety of you, the fans."
Police arrested four executives of DNA Networks over the weekend on reported fraud charges. The police have asked DNA's local bank to freeze its account while the investigation is still ongoing (although during preparations, DNA had given the local authorities a bank guarantee of $200,000). METALLICA performed Sunday in Bangalore, India, at the Palace Grounds before an estimated 50,000 fans. METALLICA frontman James Hetfield told the crowd, "India has been a life-changing experience for us."

.5oz Fresh OJ
Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a glass with ice.
Top with Ginger Beer and a piece of crystallized ginger

1oz unsweetened iced tea
1 sugar cube
3 lemon slices
Muddle the lemon and sugar,
add the iced tea and spirits and add ice.

METALLICA's 1988 album "...And Justice for All" will available on green vinyl this Thursday, June 23 from 1 p.m. PT. Only 1,000 of these sets were pressed. 500 copies will be sold to members of The Metallica Club at Metallica.com (make sure you log in before heading over to the store) and 500 copies will be sold to the public at BecauseSoundMatters.com. This deluxe limited edition green vinyl release of the album comes as a four-LP, 45 rpm, 180-gram, high-performance vinyl box set.
METALLICA's fourth album, "…And Justice for All", was originally released on August 25, 1988 through Elektra Records. It was the band's first studio LP to feature Jason Newsted, who replaced the group's former bassist Cliff Burton. The album's dark subject material, featuring references to nuclear apocalypse, injustice in the law system, limited freedom, war, insanity and hate, was accompanied by what were the most complex song structures in METALLICA's discography at the time of the LP's release. The album is also noted for its near lack of bass guitar and dry production and therefore has been called a "slightly flawed masterpiece and the pinnacle of METALLICA's progressive years" by AllMusic.com's reviewer.
Legendary rocker Lou Reed and Metallica appear to be making some kind of album together. Kirk Hammett in an interview a few months back hinted that there was going to be a project that wasn't totally a Metallica record and now we know what that project is shaping up to be, well at least in the personnel department.
A few months ago our own Kirk Hammett hinted at a new Metallica project that's "not really 100 percent a Metallica record." While Kirk may have jumped the gun a little (and has since been properly punished with a series of push-ups!), we are more than proud to announce that we have just completed recording a full length album that is a collaboration with none other than the legendary Lou Reed.
Ever since we had the pleasure of performing with Lou at the 25th Anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden in October of 2009, we have been kicking around the idea of making a record together. Some of you astute Bay Area residents may have picked up news of recent Lou Reed sightings in the greater San Francisco area and we have indeed been working at our home studio at HQ on and off over the last few months. In what would be lightning speed for a Metallica related project, we recorded ten songs during this time and while at this moment we're not exactly sure when you'll hear it, we're beyond excited to share with you that the recording sessions wrapped up last week.
A true innovator and easily one of the most influential songwriters, musicians, and performers in rock music history, Lou's work with the Velvet Underground and as a solo artist has such an enduring quality that he has long been revered and respected by us and many of our peers. We can't wait for you to listen to the finished record, so as we like to hear ourselves say around here, keep watching this spot for updates . . . we'll be back with more details as they come together.
